Shyam Malpani, from Mumbai, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 91st International Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23-27, 2008.

Director Malpani is a practicing chartered accountant in Mumbai.

A member of the North Bombay Lions Club since 1986, Director Malpani has held many offices within the association, including club president, multiple council chairperson, multiple district membership chairperson and the multiple district chairperson of the Women Empowerment Committee. In addition, he has served on the Election and Nomination committees at several international conventions.

In recognition of his service to the association, Director Malpani has received numerous awards, including the 100% President's Excellence Award, the District Chairperson Award, four International President's Certificates of Appreciation and seven International President's Medals.

In addition to his Lions activities, Director Malpani is a trustee of the Sheriff Ashok Mehta Educational Trust and was recognized with the Tourism and Hospitality Award in 2002 by the India International Tourism Council.

Director Malpani and his wife, Sunita, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children.
