Acknowledge invitation success and long-term service with the Membership Key Award Program and the Chevron Award Program.

Membership Key Awards recognize individual Lions who invite new members.

  • A Lion can earn their first membership key by inviting two new members. Each new member must remain a Lion for a year and a day to account towards a membership key.
  • There are seventeen membership keys in the Membership Key Award Program. Each key was designed to reflect the number of new members a Lion has sponsored.

Membership Key Award Rules of Eligibility and Program Details
1. A new member must remain a Lion for a year and a day before their name may be used as credit toward a key. Each key will be issued the month after the new member reaches a year and a day, except where the sponsored Lion dies, transfers or moves from the community before the expiration of a year and a day.

2. The name of the new member, with the sponsor’s name, member number, and club number, must be reported by the club secretary on the club’s monthly membership report. (For existing clubs only.)

Keys are automatically issued by International Headquarters, based on the Monthly Membership Report statistics.

3. Charter, transfer, and reinstated members cannot be used as credit for a key.
4. Only one sponsor per new member can receive credit for a key.
5. No sponsor shall receive more than one key of the same type.

Download the Membership Key Program Brochure (ME-36) to distribute to members of your club.
