Tris Coffin

Tris Coffin, of Rosemere, Quebec, Canada, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 56th annual convention, held in Miami, Florida, USA, June l973.

Past President Coffin is a retired optician.

A Lion since l939, Past President Coffin has held numerous offices including club president, district governor, zone chairperson, chairperson of the Board of Governors, and served a two-year term as a member of the association's board of directors from 1961-63. As a director, he also served as chairperson of the International Extension and Field Operation Committee. He has also been an appointee to the Board of Directors by four international presidents.

Past President Coffin has received many awards for his work on behalf of the association, including 23 International President's Awards, the l00% District Governor Award, three Extension Awards, the Senior Master Key, and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor given by the association to its members. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to his service as a Lion, Past President Coffin is a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Saint Patrick Irish Society and is a past director of the Province of Quebec Society for Crippled Children. He also received, in 1967, Canada's Centennial Medal on the 100th anniversary of the confederation of Canada in recognition of his valuable service to that nation.

He and his wife, Gil, have two sons, Tris Jr. and Paul, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
