LCIF Chairperson Al Brandel Visits Haiti
LCIF Chairperson Al Brandel and his wife Dr. Maureen Murphy led a team of 40 Lions from the Dominican Republic to deliver water, food and medical supplies to earthquake victims in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 22.

The situation in Haiti was chaotic, but Al and Lions from the Dominican Republic had a good, emotional meeting with Lions in Haiti who had lived through the disaster and are now working to help other victims.

Chairperson Al also met with local Lions to develop a long-term plan for reconstruction, and a committee of Lions leaders from the area was established to oversee relief efforts, including sending a truck of relief supplies from the Dominican Republic to the affected area.

After the meeting, the Lions went to Port-au-Prince to visit the affected areas. Lions also unloaded the supply truck when it arrived in Haiti on Saturday, January 23, 2010.

Haitian Lions and Leos distributed the supplies to a hospital and orphanage. Lions are also establishing a tent city of 200 tents donated by Swedish Lions to provide shelter for those left homeless as well as relief workers, a clinic and psychiatric assistance.
