Chicago Area Lion Helps Deliver Aid in Haiti
Carole Burke-Hallberg, a member of the Windy City Lions Club in Chicago, IL USA, just returned from Haiti. Carole helped Lions from Haiti and the Dominican Republic distribute water, food and other relief supplies directly to the people and antibiotics and medical supplies to staff at one of the few standing hospitals in Port-au-Prince.
Carole told a local newspaper that “When you look in the eyes of people that are injured, you can see the trauma and fear …. Most people were still desperate to live day-to-day and get whatever shelter and food for that day and think about surviving one more day.”
Carole was in the Dominican Republic and Haiti with Al Brandel, chairperson of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, his wife Dr. Maureen Murphy and Lions Club volunteers from across the Dominican Republic, who linked up with Lions Club members in Haiti to distribute aid.
She shares her personal video and experiences in Haiti with the local Fox News affiliate in Chicago.
