Lions Story of the Week: Behind the Scenes of Convention Preparations

May is an especially busy month at International Headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA. We’re making final plans for our International Convention and the District Governor-Elect seminar in Sydney, Australia. The executive committee meets here and we are hard at work on new programs, publications and activities for the next fiscal year.

All staff is involved, including the PR department. In addition to our usual activities, the PR team is completing videos that we’ll show at convention, post on YouTube and distribute to Lions around the world.

During President Wirfs’ recent trip to Oak Brook, we also filmed a short video about his year. We used a “green screen” behind him so that we can add a variety of backgrounds during video production. And we brought along a Flip Cam to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the video shoot.

We are working on a million dollar sports complex for the area and have applied for a grant from Pepsi for $50,000 to help us get phase one completed. We have two companies that will match us on grants. So it is important that we get this one. In order for us to receive this, we have to be in the top ten vote getters on the website.
