Story of the Week: Nisswa Lions Clean Up Their Town

Picking up trash is a project any Lion can do in any town. Not only does it beautify our communities, but it helps out our environment too. The Nisswa Lions Club in Minnesota has picked up litter along a 25-mile stretch of highway for a decade.

Watch video of the Nisswa Lions Club litter pick up on YouTube.

Lions there told us that the community loves the project and it gives the group publicity each year. Beyond that, the Lions said it’s gratifying to have such a tangible accomplishment at the end of the day.

Does your club organize a clean up project?  Let us know in the comment section.

  1. The Star Lions Club in Idaho picks up litter 2 times a year on a 2 mile stretch of highway as part of the state “Adopt-a-Highway” program. This was our first service project as a new club, chartered in 2005.
