The Sound of Music Summer Camp

Lions Youth Camps and Exchanges offer young people between the ages of 15 and 22 the opportunity to learn about other cultures. We recently sent a video crew to see how the Lions “Sound of Music” Camp is giving musicians a chance to learn – and to visit places they’ve always dreamed of seeing.
Young musicians from around the world come to Austria to attend the Sound of Music Camp. And like its namesake movie, the camp is alive with the sound of music. Campers spend their mornings in choir practice – and their afternoons playing instruments.
Although the campers come from different countries, they have much in common. A love of music. And a curiosity about different cultures. “The kids use music as a language to get to know each other and to communicate with each other, said Rudi Wiesegger, the Musical Director at the Sound of Music Camp. “And so this is a beautiful thing.”
