President’s Service Blog: Washington, D.C.
As Lions, we know that the relationships we build with others are important and lasting. Lions Clubs International Foundation has partnered with more than 40 sight-related organizations for Vision 2020/USA, which is a program of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
As part of this coalition, I recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend a congressional briefing about children’s eye care. Through this briefing, the program informed congressional leaders about the efforts of nonprofit organizations in preserving and restoring sight.
I also had the opportunity while in the nation’s capitol to reach out to some Lion congressmen. I met with Sen. Scott Brown, Rep. Jerry Moran (pictured here) and Rep. Howard Coble. It’s always a pleasure to meet lawmakers who are still active Lions and continue to embody the We Serve spirit.
Through these ongoing relationships, we can shine a light on all the productive projects Lions carry out globally.
