President’s Service Blog: Sharing the Vision
When I’m speaking with Lions club members, the one thing they want to talk about is what their club is doing. Lions are proud of their projects – and the positive impact they make on their community.
This year, I am encouraging Lions to commit themselves to serve more than ever before. To help this initiative, I have designated four Global Service Action Campaigns.
During October, Sharing the Vision highlights our goal of helping the world to see, a mandate that has been central to our core foundation since Helen Keller challenged Lions to become Knights of the Blind. In North Carolina, we hold an annual fishing tournament for the blind and visually impaired. You too can engage your community in sight-related activities this month:
- Organize an eyeglass collection.
- Sponsor a vision screening.
- Help the visually impaired participate in community activities.
This month’s Global Service Action Campaign is a time to recognize and renew our commitment to saving and restoring sight. Please join me and other Lions around the world as we focus on sight-related activities throughout the remainder of this month.
