President’s Service Blog: Little League Tournament, Panama

Judy and I had a great time attending a Little League baseball tournament when we visited Panama. Supporting Little League has been a Lions signature service project there for more than 50 years. The stadium, built with an LCIF grant and dedicated fundraising, is considered one of the best in Latin America.

The U.S. Embassy in Panama provides uniforms and equipment for the youngsters. U.S. Ambassador to Panama Phyllis Powers (center, back row) met with me during our trip. She threw out the first pitch while I took a turn at bat.

Ambassador Powers and I spoke about how activities such as Little League and Lions Quest help fight problems affecting youth such as drug abuse. With projects supporting our community’s young people, we are a beacon of hope for the next generation.Little League in Panama

Whenever we help out the youth it’s a good thing. Add in baseball, then we have a home run! Thank you IP Sid for the outstanding job you are doing.

Love your Beacon of Hope vision and program. It is working for us in West Texas and making us better Lions serving more HOPE through service!
