Photo of the Week: Lions Donate US$6.1 Million to Provide Hope, Homes in Haiti

When a major earthquake hit Haiti last January, many families lost everything. Our members were among the first to offer help, including food, water and shelter. A year later, we’re still working to provide hope – and homes – in Haiti.

Six hundred families are moving from Lions-provided tents into new provisional homes, thanks to Lions around the world who donated US $6.1 million to the LCIF Haiti Earthquake Fund. This photo shows one of the new homes being built by LCIF and HELP, a German NGO.

I would like everybody to watch this, even if this video is in German – the message is very clear. These two German doctors are working under extreme conditions in Haiti, risking their own lives, and they need help, urgently. They are saving lives … in a small hospital near Port au Prince, they have to attend people who come from all over the country, an endless stream of people who need medical care. Please don’t stop helping!
