Photo of the Week: Akashi Uozumi Lions Club Helps Children in Japan
Lions all over Japan are providing immediate disaster relief, while our Foundation is mobilizing funds to support immediate and long-term relief efforts. We received this week’s photo from Lion Ikuo Hashimoto of the Akashi Uozumi Lions Club in District 335-A.
In this photo, residents and staff at Kinjo no Sono, a facility for the disabled in Hyogo, make cookies for children in affected areas. The Akashi Uozumi Lions Club will distribute the treats as part of its ongoing disaster relief efforts. Lions in Japan are also coordinating relief efforts via social media. In addition, Lions are mobilizing more than US$5 million to help Japan, which includes disaster grants from LCIF, millions in contributions and commitments from Lions worldwide and US$3 million that Lions in Japan expect to raise.
