President’s Service Blog: Planting Eco Circles, South Africa
During this month’s Protecting the Environment Global Service Action Campaign, Lions clubs across the globe are organizing a variety of green projects. When Judy and I traveled to South Africa, we were delighted to participate in an innovative project that’s sure to improve both the environment and the lives of community members.
At the Lighthouse, an after-care resource center for mentally challenged children that the Lions Club of Johannesburg South supports, a few of the students helped us plant seedlings in an eco circle. The circular gardens are one meter in diameter and designed to provide families with homegrown produce.
In this video, you’ll see how Lions are making their community more environmentally friendly. Projects like these show how every Lion is a beacon of hope.
