Story of the Week: Lions, LCIF Mobilizing US$400,000 for Southern U.S. Relief
Following last month’s devastating storms across the Southern U.S., our members are providing disaster relief to victims. Our Foundation, LCIF, is mobilizing US$250,000 to fund Lions’ relief efforts in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. LCIF has also awarded US$160,000 in emergency grants to affected districts.
In District 12-O, Tennessee, 27 Lions clubs are providing food boxes and medical supplies for hundreds of families. Lions are also sifting through rubble to help recover possessions, cutting trees to remove debris from homes, and delivering water and ice donated by local stores. In addition, Lions in hard-hit Birmingham, Alabama, have set up a warehouse to collect and distribute donated supplies, food and water.
District governors, club presidents and Lions members will continue to aid communities with their recovery efforts in the coming days and weeks. If you’d like to help these efforts, the most effective way is through a designated donation to the LCIF Southern U.S. Storms Fund.
