Photo of the Week: Horses Help Lions Bring Happiness to Children with Special Needs

During August, many of our members worked on projects to engage youth in their local communities. We received this week’s photo via our “Submit a Photo” page.

In Turkey, members of the Istanbul Yeni Harbiye Lions Club host “My Horse is My Door to Life,” an ongoing project that gives children with special needs the chance to ride a horse. This photo shows club members helping one of the young participants enjoy his first horse ride.

It’s good to see some of the good things done by the Lions. Horses always seem to be a favorite with children.

This project teaches us many things: what it is to be a disabled child, what it is to be the parent of a disabled child, what it is to be together with a horse, and we are living again and again, what it is to be a Lion.
