Story of the Week: Lions Labor of Love Run Raises Money for Community Projects

Supporting causes in our communities brings clubs together with their neighbors. Our projects are diverse, ranging from cleaning up our communities to providing quality education to students. In Illinois, the Downers Grove Noon Lions Club hosts an annual 5K run on Labor Day to raise money for community projects such as sending kids to Camp Lions and providing eyeglasses and eye exams.

Now in its third year, the Labor of Love 5K Run attracted nearly 330 runners this year. Lions enlisted the help of more than 50 community volunteers and 16 sponsors to ensure a safe and fun day. With everything from a crazy hat contest to a raffle and families running together, the race had something for everyone to enjoy.

In this video, you’ll see the beginning of the 5K race and 1K kids’ fun run, along with the winners finishing the race.

This club organised a very good community involvement project. I saw the video. Nice one. Next year, my suggestion is to have all the participants with stickers in front should have displayed Lions logo.

  • Yes I am proud to be part of this great family of Lions!
