Photo of the Week: Florida Lions Club Celebrates 40 Years of Flapjacks
For the past 40 years, the Bonita Springs Lions Club has made sure its neighbors begin the day right with a delicious breakfast. Through the years, the club has served an estimated 250,000 pancakes and sausages, 5,000 gallons of orange juice and 13,000 gallons of coffee. The Banner snapped this photo of the club hard at work at a recent pancake breakfast.
The money raised by this weekly event January through March have supported a variety of causes, including the Bonita Lions Eye Clinic, which has served more than 4,000 patients free of charge opening in 2007. It also allowed the club to donate $40,000 towards a playground.
