Photo of the Week: UK Lions Raise Funds with Icy Plunge

Our clubs host an array of unique fundraisers, including organizing a county fair, coordinating a hot air balloon festival and operating a hostel. Each holiday season, the Sunderland Lions Club in the United Kingdom raises money for community service projects by encouraging residents to take to the frigid waters. We found this week’s photo at the Sunderland Echo.

For the past 37 years, swimmers have braved freezing temperatures on Boxing Day for the Sunderland Boxing Day Dip off of Seaburn. This year, 1,200 people signed up to participate, making it the largest event of its kind in Britain.
