World Water Day 2012: Lions Provide Clean Water and Improved Sanitation Globally

Lions are working to make our environment a better place for future generations. As we prepare for our Protecting the Environment Global Service Action Campaign next month, we also join with organizations around the world to celebrate World Water Day.

The United Nations designates March 22 to highlight the need for sanitation and access to clean water and sanitation. Globally, more people own a cell phone than have access to a toilet. But Lions and Lions Clubs International are working to change this by drilling deep-water wells, encouraging hand washing and hygiene, and sanitation access, including latrines. For every $1 spent on water and sanitation projects, Lions and their communities can expect an $8 return in health benefits.

In this video, you’ll see how Lions around the world are addressing the water crisis to create healthier, cleaner communities.
