Story of the Week: Your Help is Needed so Lions Can Eliminate Measles

Our 46,000 clubs worldwide seek to solve problems, both big and small.  Lions and the Lions Clubs International Foundation are addressing the global issue of measles, a vaccine-preventable disease that claims the lives of 450 children daily. Along with our partners, we will save 157 million children from this devastating disease in 2012.

When you donate US$1, we can vaccinate one child for life. These funds are matched by the Gates Foundation, which donates US$1 for every $2 raised by Lions. Your donation to the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative is a great way to help you earn a Melvin Jones Fellowship. Club banner patches are available for donations within several giving levels. Both clubs and individuals can be listed on the donor recognition wall at our upcoming convention for their generous contributions.

In this video, you’ll see how Lions’ immunization clinics are using your LCIF donations to make a difference in the lives of children in Nepal.

  1. This is a great opportunity for Lions to come together and make an impact in the world. To those of you who have already accepted this challenge and made a contribution, thank you. Because of you, LCIF has already mobilized US$2.6 million toward our goal of raising US $10 million to meet the matching funds challenge provided by the Gates Foundation.

Thank you for joining the fight against measles.
