#LCI2012 Update: Peace Poster and Essay Contest Winners Meet Lions at Convention

Supporting young people is crucial to what Lions clubs do around the world. We are always looking for ways to help children develop into thoughtful, compassionate leaders, whether by volunteer opportunities through Leo clubs or teaching social-emotional learning with our Lions Quest program.

The Peace Poster Contest and Essay Contest are extensions of that goal. Trisha Co Reyes, the 13-year-old 2011-2012 Peace Poster Contest winner from Manila, Philippines, happily signed reproductions of her work in the exhibit hall at the 95th International Convention in Busan, Korea. Lions lined up also to meet the remarkable young Mikaela Smith who won this year’s Essay Contest for the visually impaired. This 12-year-old girl from Indiana wrote an essay on the theme, “Children Know Peace.”

Well done, Trisha Co Reyes !
Faith is peace in the midst of a strom, determination in the midst of adversity, and safety in the midst of trouble.
