Photo of the Week: Canadian Lions Walk Their Dogs for a Cause

Assistance dogs improve the quality of life and independence for many individuals, providing help for the hearing impaired and independence for the blind. Funding the training for these vital furry friends is a cause many of our Lions clubs have championed as a way to help their local communities. We found this week’s photo at PortageOnline.

The Portage la Prairie Lions Club hosted its annual Purina Walk for Guide Dogs, which raises money to train dogs to work with people who have physical and medical disabilities. More than 1,500 guide dogs have been provided to individuals with disabilities since 1983, when the Lions of Canada Foundation began its efforts to fundrais for assistance dogs.
