Story of the Week: Lions Measles Campaign Reaches US$5 Million Mark

When Lions and our Lions Clubs International Foundation work together, we can conquer any challenge. Together, we have eliminated river blindness in Colombia and rebuilt areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. With the work of Lions and our partners, we will save 157 million children from measles, a leading cause of childhood blindness in the developing world.

With your help, we’ve reached the halfway point of our fundraising goal for the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative. The Gates Foundation challenged Lions to mobilize US$10 million, and we’re happy to report that Lions are rising to the challenge, donating US$5 million to date. The Gates Foundation contributes US$1 for every $2 raised by Lions so we can make a greater impact with every donation.

But we still need your help to reach our fundraising goal. Every day, 450 children die from measles. For less than US$1, we can vaccinate one child for life. Donate now and improve the lives of children across the globe.
