Throughout the world, our 1.35 million members are all united in service, helping people around the world. Providing community volunteer work for everyone is a cornerstone of our clubs. In Japan, one Lion who uses a wheelchair will head to the London Paralympics with the support of her fellow Lions.

Kimie Bessho, 64, was diagnosed with giant-cell tumor of her sacral bone in 1989 and lost her mobility. At age 46, she began playing table tennis as part of her rehabilitation program. In this photo taken last year, Kimie celebrates her gold medal at the U.S. Open. The Lions of Japan, especially Kimie’s own Akashi Uozumi Lions Club, enthusiastically support her in her third appearance at the Paralympics.
Lions, please leave a comment with your support and well-wishes for Kimie as she goes for the gold once again.
