LQ: Lions in Virginia Prepare Kids for School
Every day, Lions work to improve the future for the next generation through protecting the environment, providing access to healthcare and making their communities better places to live. In Virginia, a Lions club formed for the explicit purpose of helping kids in their town.
The Children First Lions Club was chartered to assure that children get a great start in school. Two evenings a month, this club holds the Little Lions Preschool for 3 to 5 year olds and their parents, which is aimed at getting the youngsters ready for school. The classes provide vital social interaction, along with skills needed in kindergarten. The students learn how to trace letters, cut with scissors and sing along to educational songs. The preschool encourages parental involvement and each family receives a packet of activities to complete at home to keep the learning going.
In this video, you’ll see how the club members work with parents to set up the children for success.
