Tune in Today to Watch Linda Madden Speak at International Literacy Day

More than 854 million people worldwide are illiterate, according to UNESCO. Yet, literacy is a key to unlocking human potential and it can be the ticket out of poverty.

That’s why Lions are proud to promote our Reading Action Program on International Literacy Day. Linda Madden, a Lion, a retired school teacher and the wife of Lions Clubs International President Wayne Madden, will join Laura Bush, Hugh Jackman and others in discussing the importance of education at the All Children Reading’s International Literacy Day celebration.

Broadcasted live beginning at 9:15 a.m. Eastern time, Mrs. Madden will speak about the power of the individual to change the world. Around the globe, our 1.35 million Lions clubs perform thousands of activities to assist children and adults in gain a good education, including encouraging families to read together and providing preschool development classes for kids.

    Lioness club Chandigarh Panchkula Diamond District 321A2 is encouraging families to read together and providing preschool development classes for kids& for their mothers. We have 70 students of different age whose parents even cannot afford cloths for them. I will request lion members to see photos on my face book and please comment on them to encourage me.
