Photo of the Week: Massachusetts Lions Serve Up Sweet Treats to the Community
Posted by Lions Clubs International on Monday, September 10, 2012 · 1 Comment
Lions around the world bring their communities together for service and fun. Many Lions offer free food to those in need, such as the club in Pennsylvania that coordinates a food pantry or the Hawaii Lions that grow fresh produce, but we found one club that makes sure its town gets its just desserts. This week’s photo is from Wicked Local Wrentham.
In this photo by Shane Gerardi, Lions Carl Evans (left) and Eric Podolsky prepare ice cream sundaes, which the club serves up for free as part of Wrentham Day. For nearly 30 years, the club has prepared 500 to 600 banana splits for participants of all ages. The Wrentham Lions Club takes advantage of the event by placing an informational booth nearby along with hosting the Lions District 33K EyeMobile that provides tests for vision, glaucoma, hearing and blood pressure. Additionally, the King Philip High School Leo Club provided face painting and information about its activities.
