Story of the Week: Canadian Lions Tap into Fun with Maple Syrup Festival

Our clubs get creative with fundraising, hosting everything from hot air balloon festivals to dog walks to raise money for causes that are important to our communities and provide community volunteer work. The Paris Lions Club in Canada hosted its first Maple Syrup Festival this spring. The event was so sweet that the club is already planning its next festival in April.
With more than 40 members in the small town of Paris, Ontario, the club sought to show off its new food truck with a festival that brought the community together. In a town of just 9,000 people, the club served up more than 1,000 pancake breakfasts, all adorned with real maple syrup. Additionally, 35 vendors sold a variety of foods and goods. Some of the $9,000 raised at the event paid for the cost of the truck, which replaced a 30-year-old model the club used. The festival also allowed the club to donate $5,000 towards a new community swimming pool.
In this video, you’ll see our volunteers serve up a taste of the maple-topped breakfast cakes from their new food truck.
