Lions Gather for Community Briefings at the White House’s Champions of Change Event

Lions Champions of Change EventToday, nearly 200 Lions from across the world were invited by the White House to participate in a series of community leader briefings and panel discussions as part of the Champions of Change event. Throughout the morning, Lions will learn about health and human services initiatives that impact our areas of community service, as well as disaster preparedness initiatives and nonprofit partnership opportunities.

Presently, Second Vice President Joe Preston is informing the audience  about why every Lion is a Champion of Change. Because all of our 1.35 million Lions around the world embody our We Serve motto every day, we are creating change in our communities for the future.

A live broadcast of the panel discussions featuring our 11 Champions of Change will begin around 12:30 p.m. eastern time. You can also follow the event on Twitter using the hashtag #WHLions.

What a monumental event at the White House placing under the microscope our beloved organization, Lions Clubs International! I returned to work today and one of my co-workers had sent me an email. She said “That was so AWESOME! I bookmarked the live site on my I phone and as Duane and I ate lunch, we watched the whole thing. … It is amazing what the Lions Club is doing…I had no idea.” To me this was just exactly what we wanted! To educate the world about what we do and instill a desire in them to join our ranks. Guess who is going with me to a club meeting now? :)

Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents, parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world.
We lionesses of Chandigarh Panchkula Diamond club distt321A2 working on it By opining a school .Now 80 students are with us whose parents cannot afford even food for them. We are not getting any recognisation for our efforts.”The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.” is the second point. we are working on it.All the lions and lionesses can see our project with children on my face book “Lioness Sushil Bansal.”Sir Lioness club do need inspiration and recoganition.
    thanks
    Always in lionism

Is there a way of replaying the Champions of Change Event telecast? I was able to listen to it and take notes, but I would like to listen to it again and have other Lions see/hear it.

    • lionsclubsorg

Yes, it will be posted to YouTube shortly. We will share the link when it’s available.

Really disappointing to see the Lions buying into the whole socialist “change” movement from BH Obama.

Lions Clubs International is a politically neutral organization. We are being honored for our service to all Americans, not for any particular political view or action.
