Photo of the Week: Lions Experience Blindness to Raise Awareness

Wheeling Lions Club

For decades, our members have worked to improve the lives of people with visual impairments. We recycle eyeglasses, provide recreational experiences for the blind and work to eradicate measles and river blindness. We also work to raise awareness through efforts such as our White Cane Day and dedicate the entire month of October to our Sharing the Vision Global Service Action Campaign. We found this week’s photo at The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register.

During each club meeting, one member of the Wheeling Lions Club participates while blindfolded to experience what it’s like to have a visual impairment. Lions have noted how difficult basic tasks are and how it forces them to rely on other club members.
