Lions Donate Books to Prison
When Lions in India received a request for assistance creating a library at a local jail, the Lions came forward and responded immediately. As a part of the Reading Action Program, they provided the District Jail Library with books on subjects ranging from religion to leaders of the world, in local languages as well as Hindi and English. The Lions also donated shelves for the books, and plans to provide reading tables, lights and fans to the library.
Approximately 400 prisoners will benefit from the library. The books offer the opportunity for prisoners to learn and make a new, better life for themselves. Reading can help give them a second chance.
