White Water Rafting for the Blind

The Chesapeake Deep Creek Lions Club in Virginia, USA sponsored a White Water Rafting trip for three blind individuals. Six Lions went on the trip to help guide the blind rafters down the river. They successfully made it through Class 4 and 5 rapids, which include very difficult, dangerous and violent rapids.

Lions everywhere are dedicated to helping people with visually impairments lead happy, healthy lives through eyeglass recycling, sight projects, vision screenings, and sponsorships such as this one. The rafting adventure helped the blind individuals conquer their fears and realize that even though they are blind, they still have the opportunities to do great things.

How does your Lions club work with blind or visually impaired individuals in your community?
