Hamburg Food

vienna veal weinersnitchel

Normally I do not eat meat – just an occasional piece of seafood – so the food in Hamburg is heavier than what I’m used to. Prior to arriving I was told that Germany is a “meat and potatoes” country, so I decided to abandon my normal vegetable diet and indulge in some of their national specialties. Every meal was delicious, including the night we went out for “fast food” (not pictured) which consisted of a smokey, spicy brat served with a tiny dinner roll and a side of French Fries doused with mayonnaise. Below are some of the other dishes my traveling companions and I enjoyed. I had the Vienna Veal Weinersnitchel with potato salad (above) and the pork shank with dumpling and cabbage slaw in the first picture below. Can anyone identify any of the other dinners?
