Darwin Lions Club Beer Can Regatta

Lions in Australia recently hosted the 40th Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta, an annual boat race that raises funds for local organizations such as SIDS for Kids, Life Education and Victims of Crime.

Originally started in 1974 as an environmental cleanup project, every year participants build extravagant water crafts out of empty beer cans – one of this year’s boats was made up of 35,000 cans and weighed three tons! The boats, costumes and fun-filled event now attract more than 15,000 spectators from across the globe.
