Palmer’s Blog: Texas Lions Camp

Texas Lions Camp

G’day from the United States! My first stop in the U.S. was the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas. This camp is an extraordinary place that allows children with physical disabilities, diabetes and Down syndrome to have fun, meet friends, build their self-esteem and follow their dreams.

I was amazed at how big the camp is — over 500 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Activities at the camp include horseback riding, archery and climbing. The diabetes camp includes a program that teaches children how to monitor their own blood sugar and give their own insulin injections. I especially admire the camp’s “Can Do” philosophy, which teaches children that no matter what, they can achieve any dream they set their minds to.

And it’s thanks to Lions and friends like you who make donations and sponsor children to attend the camp! Visit lionscamp.com to learn how your club can sponsor a camper.
