Recycle for Sight in May

When Helen Keller named Lions “Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness,” Lions responded by making it our mission to serve blind and vision-impaired people everywhere. Today, we’re still known for our sight services — eyeglass recycling in particular. May is Recycle for Sight Month, and we encourage your club to participate and raise awareness about eyeglass recycling in your community.

Many people often wonder how Lions eyeglass recycling works. The video above features a vision mission trip to Puerto Vallarta, organized by the Fargo Lions Club, and does a great job of explaining how eyeglasses are collected, sorted and distributed. The process begins with a simple eyeglass collection box, and ends with hundreds of eyeglasses given to children and adults in need.
