Five Ways to Promote Your Club

Kevin Jeong April 07, 2019

Changing lives is what Lions do, and people need to hear about it. That’s where a bit of marketing know-how can make a big difference. With a little effort, your club can raise awareness and support for our global causes, create opportunities for service and build lasting relationships within your community.

Here are five ways your club can get started today:

1. The power of our brand.

Our emblem is a powerful symbol of hope and one of the best marketing tools you have. Whether you’re designing a flyer, creating a web video or creating signage for a project, showcase the iconic Lions logo so that your community knows who you are and that you’re working to solve the issues that matter to them.

Image matters. And so do images. In addition to the great photos your club has taken, we have some high quality images that can help you promote your service activities, your events and your club.

2. Gear up to serve.

Put on your Lions gear whenever you go out to serve and show your community that wherever your club goes, good things happen.

Whether you’re wearing Lions hats, shirts or vests, your gear immediately identifies you as part of a club in a time when many people are looking to be a part of something meaningful. We don’t just deliver kindness, we are a destination for it. Seeing that iconic Lions logo will make it easy for someone looking to serve to know they can start their service journey with us.

You can find your best look when you visit the Club Supplies Store today.

3.    Let your social networks do the talking.

Social media is a great way to connect with your local community and beyond. But keep in mind that people want media. At each project, take impactful images and video that show your Lions serving and the people you’re serving. Media can bring your story to life in a way that words can’t.

In addition to sharing media and service stories, social media is one of the best ways to invite others to join you in service and connect with community organizations so you can get plugged into the conversations happening in your community. Comment, like and post regularly to grow your presence online, and turn your club into a trusted voice on important community issues.

If you haven’t already, consider creating a social media page for your club today. You can also visit the SMiLE Facebook page for helpful advice on how to maximize your club’s social media network or you can browse the Lions blog for more tips on how to improve your online visibility.

4.    Don’t tell them about service. Show them.

Lions don’t just deliver good, we inspire it. For your next project, consider inviting potential members to serve with you so they can see what being a Lion is all about. There are many people who want to make a difference in their communities, but may not know where to start. Getting them involved in a project is a great way to get them excited about serving. And excited about your club.

5.    A little planning goes a long way.

Good marketing can really transform the way your community sees your club, but it helps to have someone managing it. Appoint a club marketing communications chairperson who can focus on ways to engage your community. Your community wants to hear good news, and a dedicated marketing chairperson will help ensure that they’ll hear about all the incredible work your club is doing.

Find the resources you need to appoint a Club Marketing Communications Chairperson in your club.

Marketing is something we all can do. Actually, it’s something we all should do. Marketing can help you get noticed, get new members and get the recognition you deserve for the incredible contributions you are making to your community.

You know your club and community better than anyone, so your club can determine the approach that’s right for it. But if you’re looking for some advice, try this: get started—and don’t stop.
