Vision Grant Program
Vision Grants from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) support Lions-led service activities that fight blindness and preventable vision loss and/or assist people who are blind and visually impaired in underserved communities. These grants primarily fund major equipment and infrastructure expenses. In developing countries where there is a shortage of trained eye health personnel, the Vision Grant also supports human resource training and consumables.
Grant guidelines
Vision Grants may be requested between US$10,000 and US$300,000. Local matching funds are required. Applicants from developing countries can request up to 75 percent of the total project budget. Applications from developed countries are eligible for up to 50 percent of the total project budget. Human Resource training and capacity building expenses do not require matching funds.
Grant examples
Vision Grants support four primary focus areas:
- Infrastructure development
- Equipment acquisition
- Human resource and capacity building
- Consumables
Projects can focus on one or a combination of these areas. Only Lions from developing countries can apply for human resource training and consumables.
Application deadlines
Applications may be considered at the LCIF Board of Trustees meeting three times per year in August, January and May. The deadlines to apply are February 1, May 1 and October 1. It is recommended that applications be submitted well in advance of the application deadline.
