District Excellence Award
Districts that meet the criteria in the five required areas will receive a banner patch and pin.
District 5 Star Excellence Award
Districts that meet the required criteria will receive an exclusive 5 star medal — and the pride of going above and beyond in their achievement.
Criteria and resources
Districts that meet the criteria in the areas of membership, service, LCIF, leadership and organizational excellence, and marketing will qualify for the District Excellence Award. Additional criteria must be met to qualify for the District 5 Star Excellence Award. Explore the specific requirements in each of these areas to see if you qualify for either award.
- Membership
District Excellence Award requirements
- Met or exceeded MISSION 1.5 membership targets in new clubs and new members resulting in a net gain in membership growth in the district
District 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- Net gain of 100 members or more
- Chartered three (3) clubs over MISSION 1.5 goal
Tools for success
- Service
District Excellence Award requirements
- 90% of clubs held service projects
- Hosted and reported a district service project

- LCIF
District Excellence Award requirements
- Met fundraising goal set by Lions Clubs International Foundation
District 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- District Governor makes or receives a new donation to be an MJF or Progressive MJF
- Exceeded LCIF Goal by over 10%

District Excellence Award requirements
- 90% of clubs are in good standing (not in status quo or financial suspension: district dues paid and no unpaid balance with Lions International greater than US$50 outstanding 90 days or more)
- Reported a first and second vice district governor
- 90% of clubs have reported club officers
District 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- District reported first and second vice district governors
- Every club was visited by a district team member

Application
The application features criteria for both the District Excellence Award and the District 5 Star Excellence Award. Please note you do not need to apply for both awards — if you only qualify for one award, you can apply for that award only.
Applications must be signed by the current district governor. If sent from the district governor’s email, it qualifies as the signature on the application being submitted electronically.
Timeline and important dates
- Applications due by: August 31, 2025
- Awards mailed to: 2025-2026 district governor
