Five Leo Leadership Development Opportunities You Should Know About

Leos Take the L.E.A.D. – Leo Education, Advancement and Development

Being an active Leo can look like many things, but all of them lead to one goal: developing your skills to help you grow as a leader in service. Increasing these skills not only helps your service be more effective, but also helps your professional growth. Take your Leo club, district or multiple district experience to the next level with these leadership development opportunities.

  1. Visit the Lions Learning Center (LLC) for online trainings for Leos, including the Leo Club Officer Training and the Leo Club Program Learning Path, which includes courses on Goal Setting, Public Speaking, Effective Listening and Conflict Resolution.

  2. Take a leadership position within your club, district or multiple district. By serving as an officer, you’ll not only be helping your fellow Leos, you will also be honing your professional and personal skills like organization, relationship-building and teamwork.

  3. The Leo Leadership Grant Program provides financial assistance when a Lions multiple district, sub-district or single district organizes a Leo leadership conference with the goal of further developing Leos’ leadership skills. Encourage your Lion leadership to host a leadership forum and apply for the grant!

  4. Leo Advancement Sessions (LAS) are curricula designed specifically to help Leos develop and enhance their leadership skills during a Leo conference, forum or officer trainings. Sessions include Working in Teams, Time Management, Public Speaking and Member Motivation. Talk to your Leo club advisor if you’d like to use this training for your club, district or multiple district.

  5. The Emerging Lions Leadership Institute (ELLI) is an opportunity for Lions and Leos who wish to pursue leadership roles within their club. Funds are available to support opportunities for Leos and Lions to learn together and from each other as participants of an ELLI. If you are interested in attending an ELLI, reach out to the Lion district or multiple district in your area.
