Criteria and resources
Clubs that meet the criteria in the areas of membership, service, LCIF, leadership and organizational excellence, and marketing will qualify for the Club Excellence Award. Additional criteria must be met to qualify for the Club 5 Star Excellence Award. Explore the specific requirements in each of these areas to see if you qualify for either award.
- Membership
Club Excellence Award requirements
- Achieved a net growth of two members or 10% or more members (whichever is greater) or chartered a new Lions club, in the current Lions year
Club 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- Increased membership by 20% (minimum of five (5) members for small clubs)
- Submitted annual membership report

Club Excellence Award requirements
- Started a new service project — consider one of our global causes
- Participated in and listed three service activities that were reported to Lions International
Club 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- Submitted annual service report

Club Excellence Award requirements
- Contributed to LCIF an amount equal to or greater than the club’s membership total multiplied by US$10
Club 5 Star Excellence Award requirements
- Donated a minimum of US$20 per member or US$1,000 (whichever is less)

Club Excellence Award requirements
- Club is in good standing (not in status quo or financial suspension: district dues paid and no unpaid balance with Lions International greater than US$50 outstanding 90 days or more)
- Reported club officers to Lions International
- Key officers participated in club officer training

Application
The application features criteria for both the Club Excellence Award and the Club 5 Star Excellence Award. Please note you do not need to apply for both awards — if you only qualify for one award, you can apply for that award only.
Applications must be signed by the current district governor. If sent from the district governor’s email, it qualifies as the signature on the application being submitted electronically.
Timeline and important dates
- Applications due by: August 31, 2025
- Awards mailed to: 2025-2026 district governor
