Get to know the Peace Contests
The International Peace Contests are made up of two unique contests sponsored by Lions clubs — the International Peace Poster Contest and the International Peace Essay Contest. Young people ages 11-13 can share their creativity in expressing what peace means through art and writing.
Grand prize winners for each contest receive an award, a monetary prize of US$5,000 and an invitation to a Lions International event. For the International Peace Poster Contest, 23 merit winners will receive a certificate and a monetary prize of US$500.
2026-2027 theme: Harmony in Humanity
When we treat each other with respect and kindness, peace can flourish. This year, we invite young people to imagine a world where people of every culture and background live together peacefully — celebrating differences, finding common ground and creating true harmony in humanity.
How to participate
While both contests are designed for young people (ages 11–13), there are slight differences in criteria. Any young person within the age requirements can participate in a Peace Poster Contest sponsored by a Lions club that has ordered a Peace Poster kit, while the International Peace Essay Contest was specially created for participation by young people with visual impairments.

Peace Poster Contest
Lions clubs can buy Peace Poster kits from January 15 through October 1. Clubs must send winning posters to the district governor by November 15.

Peace Essay Contest
Essay contest rules can be found online. Clubs must send a winning essay to the district governor on November 15.
