Initiative information and grant funding
The initiative uses the New Voices Symposiums to increase diversity within Lions International. Grant funding is available to districts to help cover associated costs.
Symposiums
By gathering and sharing ideas, Lions and Leos can explore new avenues for promoting diversity, recruiting new and diverse members, spark community interest and facilitate new club creation with the goal of developing new community partners and projects.
Recognizing New Voices in your district
District Governors can nominate four diverse Lions and Leos in their districts whose innovative contributions meet certain criteria in the areas of service, membership, leadership and marketing. Nominating New Voices helps not only diversify membership but the ways their clubs serve.
What nominees receive
Nominees will receive a story collection form to complete and submit to their district governor, a special certificate as well as the opportunity to be recognized by their district and mentor.
What nominees do
Once chosen, New Voices nominees serve as regional role models that are promoted throughout the year to drive engagement, promote leadership and inspire a new wave of diverse new members to join our association.
Share, celebrate and support New Voices
Visibility is key to highlighting the accomplishments of New Voices — and inspiring other underrepresented Lions, Leos and prospective members — so be sure to spread the word to your community.
Share your New Voices’ impact
Social media is the easiest way to showcase the innovative service and new ideas that New Voices bring to clubs. Use the hashtag #NEWVOICES on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and YouTube to share your New Voices' stories.
