A growing partnership against hunger

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and World Food Program USA launched a joint partnership in 2024 to support the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) home-grown school meals initiative. Through a combined US$4 million investment, US$2 million from each organization, the partnership began supporting school meal programs that improve nutrition, increase school attendance and strengthen local food systems.

Building on early success, the partnership expanded for three additional years with an annual commitment of US$2 million from LCIF and US$2 million from World Food Program USA. In 2026, programs support children and communities in Ghana, Honduras, Kenya, Madagascar, Nicaragua, Nepal and Uganda, with local Lions working alongside country offices and schools to strengthen community engagement and program support.

In Karamoja, Uganda, a daily school meal can mean the difference between hunger and hope. Watch how LCIF and World Food Program USA help children stay in school while supporting local farmers and strengthening communities.
