Steps for success

Recruitment can — and should — be something that all members take part in. The following steps can help you start the conversation with potential new members.

Step 1: Just ask

Identify friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors you feel comfortable inviting. You know who would make great Lions — so just ask! A personal invitation is one of the most effective ways to bring in new members.

Step 2: Advocate for your club

Talk about your club’s impact and why you’re passionate about it. Share personal stories about the difference your club makes in the community. Enthusiasm is contagious!

Step 3: Engage prospects directly

When you meet someone who might be interested, have a meaningful conversation about how they can make a difference by joining. Listen to their interests and connect them with opportunities that align with their passions.

Step 4: Promote service on social media

Share your club’s activities on social media, post photos from service projects, and invite your network to upcoming events. Encourage club members to share posts and testimonials to expand the reach.

Marketing matters

Marketing your club and the service it does is a great way to let your community know what you’re all about and garner interest in your club. Explore the Marketing Matters webpage for tools and resources to help you take your club marketing to the next level.
