Leo club advisors

As a Leo club advisor, your enthusiasm about working with young people and guiding Leos in club management and service is key to ensuring their success. In addition, you play an important role in kickstarting the collaboration between Leos and your Lions club, creating an environment for learning and connecting Leos with other community leaders.

Understanding your role

Some responsibilities of your role can vary depending on your Leos’ ages — Omega Leos may require different support than Alpha Leos, like when executing service projects or developing leadership skills. But regardless of which club you’re sponsoring, there are tasks that you’ll need to support and training to help you do it.

Talk to Lion leaders supporting Leos

Be sure to maintain open communication with the district and multiple district Leo chairpersons, as well as Leo leaders at those levels, to ensure full support for your Leo club.

Report your Leos

Take time to report any new Leo members, clubs and service projects in the Lion Portal to help track the health of the club and to see the service impact Leos have made. Learn more about the importance of reporting in the Reporting Matters Guide.

Order supplies

Explore Leo-branded items in the Lions Shop to help recognize your Leos and show your Leo pride. You can also order recruitment materials and the Leo Club Program Handbook using the Leo Club Publications Order Form.

Attend a Leo forum

Leo forums can help you understand the Leo Club Program and network with other Lions and Leos so you can find new ideas for service, build connections and more.

You can also find more information about what your role entails in the Leo Club Program Handbook.

Supporting Leos’ next service steps

As Leos consider serving as a Lion or approach the end of their time in the Leo Club Program, it’s important to talk with them about continuing their service journey and to let them know they have options. Alpha Leos may find Omega Leos to be a natural next step. In addition to Omega Leos, encouraging Leos to become Lions is an excellent way to help Leos to continue to grow their impact.

If Alpha or Omega Leos do not transfer their membership before aging out of the Leo Club Program, their respective records will be automatically closed, or end-dated, by Lions International annually on June 30 according to Board Policy Chapter XXII, Article V., C. Be sure to let your Leos know that continuing their service journey will help keep their service record intact.
