2025-2026 District Goals

MISSION 1.5 may be our latest membership growth initiative, but setting and achieving district growth targets has always been an important part of how we serve as Lions.

Incoming district teams can develop goals and action plans that address the growing needs of their communities and unify the teams’ vision by planning for a successful year ahead. Driven by the action plans created, Lions in your communities will increase our service impact on a local and global level.

Our executive officers ask for your commitment in strengthening our association by developing strategic action plans in support of the following association goals:

  • Membership development: In support of MISSION 1.5, during my district governor term, I commit to working with my team to achieve the membership growth targets established for our area.
  • Leadership development: Knowledgeable servant leaders attract new members and inspire a positive member experience for Lions and Leos in our communities. During the first quarter of my district governor term, I commit to working with my team to promote and facilitate training for club officers and zone chairpersons.
  • Service activities: To increase the impact and relevance of service in my district, raise awareness of club service, and attract prospective members during my district governor term, I commit to working with my team to actively contribute to global impact and increase the percentage of Lions and Leo clubs reporting service.
  • LCIF: Increased knowledge of the impact of giving to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) during member orientation raises individual commitments and donations from Lions and Leos. During my district governor term, I commit to working with my team to support LCIF in its endeavor to achieve its fundraising goal and increase our global impact.

A complete list of association goals and district growth targets can be found in the District Goals FAQ.

Use the resources below to begin planning membership growth strategies in your districts through increased leadership development, service activities and support for LCIF.

Where do we begin?

Step 1

Build a team: Build an effective team of diverse, motivated and passionate Lion leaders to support your district in the coming year. In order to be successful, we need everyone to participate and impact membership at every level.

Step 2

Build a vision: Upon receipt of your district’s MISSION 1.5 targets, work with your team to complete the last step of the District Strategic Plan Workbook by conducting a SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Consider what possibilities exist for membership growth to achieve MISSION 1.5 targets.

Step 3

Build a plan: Upon completion of the Action Planning to Achieve District Goals eLearning course (available in the LLC), review the Sample Action Plans Booklet. Using lessons learned from your district’s SWOT analysis, begin building your action plans to achieve established MISSION 1.5 targets.

Step 4

Build success: Execute your actions plans by collaborating across all levels, tracking and reporting results, and making course corrections throughout the year. Maintain consistency throughout the year and keep each other accountable.
