District and multiple district Leo chairpersons
As a district or multiple district Leo chairperson, you play an important role in helping your Leo clubs find success — which can also help your districts and multiple districts thrive.
What the role entails
Finding success in your role requires you to promote, develop and support your Leo clubs. And you can ensure the strength of your district, multiple district and your Leos by doing the following.
Collaborate across your Leo district or multiple district
Make connections with Leo clubs and their advisors across your Leo district/multiple district, which can help offer new leadership opportunities for Leos, expand Leos’ service and help you stay up to date on insights to share with your Leos and Leo clubs.
If your Lions district or multiple district does not have a Leo district or multiple district, work with your district governor or council chairperson, respectively, to create one. Remember that starting a Leo district requires at least six Leo clubs and starting a Leo multiple district requires at least 10 Leo clubs (with a minimum of 100 members).
Start more Leo clubs
Encourage the Lions clubs in your district or multiple district to start new Leo clubs and offer assistance throughout the process.
Advocate for the Leo to Lion connection
Serve as a liaison between the Lions district and the Leo district. Work with the district governor or council chairperson to appoint Leo and Leo-Lion cabinet and council liaisons to help further the impact of the Leo Club Program and strengthen districts and multiple districts. This can include encouraging Leos to become Lions.
Encourage reporting in the Lion Portal
Ensure Leo club advisors and club officers report membership and service in the Lion Portal to help monitor and maintain the health of your Leo clubs. You also need to report the district/multiple district officers, respectively, and service in the Lion Portal. This information helps inform strategic planning for both growth and support as Leos transition to Omega Leos or Lions.
Additional support
Understanding the full breadth of your role’s responsibilities can help ensure your Leos receive everything they need to succeed. So, familiarize yourself with the board policy role descriptions. You can also support your Leos by helping to coordinate grants and connecting with your Leo club advisors and GLT coordinators to review Lion Portal training reports and see where your Leos might need a little more support.
